Ordering or changing your bins

To order new kerbside bins or to change the size of your current kerbside bins, please contact council on 5481 2200.

If your bins are stolen, complete a stolen bin report and submit to council.

You can find out when your bins will be collected by council here.

Checklist for waste and recycling collections:

  1. Place bins at least 50cm apart to enable automatic pickup.
  2. Make sure trees, poles or parked cars don’t obstruct bin collection.
  3. If your business is in a rural area, make sure your rural road number is clearly displayed so the collection contractor can identify your property.
  4. If your business is at the end of a court, place your bins at the straight part of the road. Trucks can’t manoeuvre to collect bins at the end of a court.

Commercial & industrial waste

Waste created by some businesses can’t always be disposed of in a bin and you may need to take it to a transfer station.

  • Soil (clean fill), concrete, masonry, rubble and household demolition waste are accepted in residential quantities only (under 1m3).
  • All other materials are accepted in residential quantities only (under 3m3).
  • No commercial waste is accepted at any of the transfer stations.

If you have waste exceeding 3m3 to dispose of, take it to a regional landfill. The closest regional landfills are:

  • Patho Landfill, Ellwaste, 5456 2500, or visit www.ellwaste.com.au
  • Moama Landfill, Shire of Murray, 5884 3302, or visit www.murray.nsw.gov.au

Please see the EPA Victoria website for the Industrial Waste Resource Guidelines and/or contact a waste contractor for disposal options.

What can I recycle?

It’s important to know what you can and can’t place in your recycling bins. It’s also important that all staff are aware of the recycling rules as well.

Placing non-recyclables into a recycling bin makes sorting the rubbish from the recyclables more difficult and costlier. In some cases, it can lead to recyclable items ending up at the rubbish dump.

Here’s a list of what to recycle:

  • glass bottles and jars
  • milk and juice cartons
  • aluminium/Tin/steel cans including aerosol cans
  • plastics with recycle symbols 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 including milk, juice, soft drink, detergent, shampoo bottles, margarine, yoghurt and ice cream containers
  • paper products including letters, envelopes and advertising material; newspapers, magazines and cardboard; telephone books; work and school papers.

DO NOT put plastic bags into the recycling bin. Recyclables must be loose when you place them into the recycling bin. Plastic bags go in the rubbish bin.

REMEMBER no rubbish or plastic film in your recycling bin.
